Part I  Based on the podcast complete with the missing words:

1. Engineers have launched a huge  _______________ collection device to gather plastic material floating in the Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii.

 2. The organization Ocean Cleanup created the collection device. The group’s  _______________ is Boyan Slat, a 24-year-old inventor from the Netherlands.

    garbage: things that are no longer useful or wanted and that have been thrown away

    founder: a person who creates or establishes something that is meant to last for a long time, such as a business or school

    scuba dive: a sport or activity in which you swim underwater using an air tank and a special breathing machine that you strap on your body

    persistent: continuing to do something or to try to do something even though it is difficult or other people want you to stop

    screen(ing): to prevent something harmful from passing through

    skirt: an outer covering that hangs down to protect something

    recycle(d): to send used materials to a place where they are made into something new

    skeptical: having or expressing doubt or uncertainty about something such as a claim or statement

    acknowledge: to say that you accept or do not deny the truth or existence of

      5)Screening Skirt: They placed a screening skirt near the river to prevent a flood.
      6)Recycle(d): We use recycled paper to print our tests.
      7)Skeptical: He is very skeptical about the existance of a god.
      8)Acknowledge: They had acknowledge all his achievements.
      9)Close the taps:He has close the tap to the problem.
      10)Tackle:In order to solve the homework, you got to tackle the problem first.

      3)A team of engineeers, from an organizartion called Ocean Cleanup, have launched a huge garbage collection device to gather plastic in between California and Hawaii. The device comes with lights powered by the sun, cameras, and other special devices inlcuding a system that can communicate its position at all the times. The garbage collected by this device will be gather by a support ship every few months, in order to recycle it. This project has recieved at least $35 million in donations. This device consist of free-floating barriers tha will survive extreme weather conditions and damage from continual use.
