Good morning We send the homework, the letter was written by Viviana Carranza, Esteve Mesén and Andrea Ramírez Best Regards
Biomolecular Research Center Director, Dear Dr. John
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Ana Ramírez and I have a major in Biotechnology Engineer from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (ITCR).
I heard about your research group on the website of the Biomolecular Research Center, I´ve found very interesting the research related with entomopathogenic bacteria.
I am 24 and I live in San José. Right now I’m studying German, because I’m interesed in visiting the best research center in Germany.
I’m working as a volunteer student in the ITCR, participating as a researcher member in the determination of an efficient entomopathogenic virus to kill the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). During our investigation, we found that this virus might affect the development of this pest, with important applications to reduce the economical losses in corn fields.
Futhermore, I’ve spent most of my time on the laboratory with the Spodoptera frugiperda larvae and adults preparing different tests to evaluate the effectiveness of the virus. Also, we had a greenhouse with corn crops to perform our studies and to collect some larvae samples.
I am really interested in your projects and I think I have enough experience in the pest control area to contribute with your group. Besides, I want to learn about of entomopathogenic bacteria and I like to get new skills in molecular biology and spectrophotometry.
In this mail, I have attached my resume with my researcher profile. Please, let me know if I have a chance to be a collaborative member of your research group.
Thank you for contacting me. I had a problem with the attachment of your research profile so I need to ask you some things. First, how long have you worked in the area of biocontrol? Besides working with entomopathogenic virus against Spodoptera, have you been part of some other projects related to the biocontrol area?.
About our research, It began in 2000 and since then we have had very promising results that already have been published in high impact journals. I am attaching some links of those reports right here for you to give them a review. We are currently performing gene expression analysis of three genes of Bacillus thuringiensis and B. israelensis mutant lines.
My team and I would be pleased to receive you at my laboratory but before we need to coordinate the objectives of your internship. For this type of visits we need you to work with us for at least three months, so that you can properly learn the techniques of molecular biology and spectrometry we are using . Good night professor and classmates, this is the Abroad Experience HW. It was written by Viviana Carranza, Esteve Mesén and Andrea Ramírez.
Best regards.
Last year I went abroad for the first time to France. I went there to an intership to make my final graduation project to get my Bachelor degree in Biotechnology. In Costa Rica, when we think in France, we often think about all the loves stories that we saw at the movies, the créperies and coffee shop in the Seine River, the Eiffel Tower, and the great picturesque landscapes that we can see in Paris.
When I arrived to France, I noticed that I could not drink water from the sink, so I bought bottled water. I had studied a little about French language in High School for a while, but when I came to France, it was really difficult to me to understand the idiom, and I realized that I needed to practice more the language. In the first week at the University, I met other people from Latino America and I get used to speak Spanish. In Costa Rica we are very friendly people; but in France, every time I walked the streets, the people were very reserved and they weren’t very talkative.
The “ticos” usually use the expression "me regala tal cosa" to refer a product that we are going to buy. This phrase reminds me the first time I went to the supermarket, when I used that expression to asked for some fruits. In that moment, the cashier looked at me a little weird and told me " I can not give it to you for free". After that, I realized that they didn´t use that phrase and I tried to explain to him, but he didn´t understand. So he called the manager to tell him that I didn´t want to pay for my food, every body around just looked at me funny and I saw that they were whispering. I felt so embarrassed and I had to explain the situation to the manager. Fortunately he understood and explained to the cashier that I was from Costa Rica and I was using a common phrase from my country. In the end, I paid for my fruits and I returned back home. I told to my mother and she just laughed about the situation. Now I know that if I visit another country, I will never use those phrases again.
Also during my internship I visited Spain and I thought that it could be easy to communicate with other people from this country, but during a dinner on a restaurant I asked for a straw (“pajilla” is the meaning in the Spanish language) and the waitress could not understand me since “pajilla” in Spain means a sexual expression. After this misunderstanding, my Spanish friends and me laughed a lot. Since then, every time I went to a restaurant, I avoided to ask for a straw and if I really needed a Straw, I remembered to ask for a “pajita”.
The moral of the story is that we need to know the customs and the culture of the country before we go to a trip abroad and we must investigate very well about the language and the meaning of some words to avoid misunderstandings.
Last month, I went abroad for the first time to Davis, California. I was there for a short intership at UC Davis. I had the idea that people in that city usually speak English, Spanish and probably other languages because there are a lot of foreign students at the University. I was living in Ann Powell’s house, she is an American researcher, so she only speaks English, for that reason I was speaking English too during my trip.
The first weekend that I was there, Ann and his husband Jerry, invited me to dinner outside. We went to Salsa Picante to eat Mexican food. All the conversations between us were in English, so, the woman who attended us probably thought that all of us only spoke that language. She said to her partner, in Spanish, that I was probably adopted, because I was very different with my brown eyes, brown hair and dark skin and I heart that. It was very funny to me, because she didn’t said that in a whisper.
When we finished Jerry paid the account and I decided to give personally the tip to the waitress. When I was close I said to her “muchas gracias por la atención, y no soy adoptada, soy de Costa Rica” and immediately the girl blushed. Well, I thing she probably learned to don’t make inappropriate comments in front of the clients because they could speak Spanish too.
Six years ago I went abroad for the first time; I went to L.A in the States. I did not have idea how it was going to be because I had never been abroad before and I really did not know anything about a specific place in L.A, because I did not know that my family wanted to travel to U.S.A, however the experience was great.
So, when I got to L.A I decided to take the subway because I wanted to know as many places as possible. The first time I went out with a friend but the next time I wanted to go to many places by myself because my friend could not go with me.
So, I took the subway by myself but I had a big problem because I did not remember where I had to get out of the subway and I did not want to ask anybody where I was but when I decided to do it, it was too late and I learned that I do not have to be shy and ask when I need it.
I remember that this day I got to another place and It took me many hours to return home but when I told my friend what was happening to me, she laughed a lot and she told me that it was the way people get to know new places and we started crying of laughter all day.
Finally, I could go to many places by myself and the experience was wonderful and I really want to go back there soon and I know that this time I have to ask for everything that I do not have idea or read about different places that I can go to. Now, I will know what to do if I go there again.
By other hand last year I went to Chile and Argentina. It was my first time traveling alone to another country, so it was a huge mistake that I still didn't had a place where to stay when I got to Valdivia, the place where I was going to live. My first cultural shock was just getting to the airport alone. I didn't knew that my airplane's line was called different from what they told that it was it's name. So, fortunately I had a lot of time to look for the correct line to take. There were a many people that seem to know a lot more where they were than what I knew. But I think that even with my scared little kitty face that I had for the hole trip I survived it well.
I also thought that the language that they spoke it was different. I was confident that this country spoke the same language that me, so I didn't even think a lot about learning much of how they lived or how they talked. Well, I was wrong. Like for the first month I stayed at Chile it was really difficult for me to understand my partners at the lab when we sat at the table to have lunch time.
Besides, food and the weather, for me was a really different. In this time, I got to know about the four seasons, I met for the first time the snow and also ate several different dishes ans drinks that in here I wouldn't even knew their name.
At last, I got adapted. It wasn't so hard because the people in this beautiful place were really nice and open-minded with me that it make it really easy. I also think it's just a thing of mind.
My last intercultural experience, was in january 2014; I went to Orlando, Florida in USA. I visited 5 Disney parks: Magic kingdom, Sea world, Universal studios, Adventure Island and Busch gardens. I really loved my trip, it was amazing, I went there with my family, it was a gift from my mom. We stayed there 15 days, and we also went to shopping, also I went to Miami and I met a lot of places. I enjoy it a lot. But, I found that USA is completly different than Costa Rica. USA's climate is colder than Costa Rica's climate, also, there is a lot of fast food, and is not easy to find rice or beans. The USA fruits are more expensive than Costa Rica's fruits. In USA there are a lot of buildings, and here in Costa Rica, you can see a lot lf nature. Also, the public services are more expensive than Costa Rica's public services. I really loved USA, but I missed a lot my country when I was there.
Some applications of biotechnology according to the video are:
1. The proudction of substances that without biotechnology, could only be produced by the human body, for example: Insulin.
2. In the future biotechnology could be used to correct genetical disorders, by adding genes to cells.
3. Correct certain traits of plants or animals used to produce food. For example, genetically modified grown tomatos that are not soft after having been ripened on the vine, so they can be shipped and conserve a good taste.
4. Another uses are: wastewater treatment, pest control, medicine production, bio-diesel production.
The video explains some applications of the biotech to improve our life. For example add new genes into a bacteria, and this bacteria can be produce some substances that your body needed, like insulin. The diabetics person´s don´t produce this in their pancreas, and the insulin help us to regulate sugar levels. Other application can be insert genes for animales use for food, they create new genetic plants (tomato, maize). They work with new forms from de DNA. But this can be dangerous because they create new diseases, that don´t have cure.
Other uses can be:
1- Gene therapy: this technique use DNA to treatment genetics disease. Sometimes we can modify proteins with some vector and inside cells into your body. Them the cell express the the protein or the gene in the body.
2-Bioremediation: it´s for remove or neutralize contaminated areas. It´s a natural treatment with organimis to break down toxic substances.
According to the video and my opinion, the most difficult situation about biotechnology is to make a convincing definition about it. In my experience, a lot of people in Costa Rica is not familiarized with the word, even my mother didn’t know nothing when I was starting my career. So, like a Biotechnology Engineer we need to fight with that reality and try to be clear about the importance and versatility of our profession. The video that we saw, is too specific in the biomedical area and transgenic cultures, but there aren´t the only biotechnological applications.
In Tecnologico de Costa Rica there are many projects with different approaches: Biomedicine, with skin cultures to regenerate burn victim´s skin; transgenic cultures, with genetically modified tobacco to produce insulin; Plant Tissue Cultures, with micropropagation of medicinal, agricultural and forest plants to extract bioactive compounds or to maintenance genebanks; synthetic biology, with bacteria transformation to produce biofuels from waste milk; there also another areas and tools like virology, molecular biology, nanotechnology.
That was my opinion about Biotechnological applications in TEC, I look forward to your comments.

The movie "the help" it is an excellent movie because you can see a lot of things that have happened in our society about the human rights. This movie is about a girl who has finished her college and she is determined to become a writer. So, she went to a small Mississippi town, where she had many friends from her childhood and she decided to interview the African-American maids who had spent their lives taking care of the babies from high class families. They have to do everything that their bosses wanted them (the maids) to do: cook all the food, clean all the house, buy all the food. They even had to use a different bathroom and bedroom, because the woman of the house does not like to have to share her things with black people. As the word spreads more and more women want to tell their stories to the writer, so the girl could write a whole book, so all the African-American maids could receive some money and the high class women were desperate to find a way of keeping the book from being published, because the book was telling all the lies from the women in the relation with her maids and their marriages. The help is a novel by the American author Kathryn Stockett. This novel has been rejected by 60 literary editorials but finally she found an agent. This novel has been published in 35 countries and three languages. In 2011, it sold around five million copies and has been more than 100 weeks on the New York best seller list. This is the list of all the awards and honors that the movie has received. New York Times bestseller (Fiction, 2009, 2011), Amazon's Best Books of the Year (#19, 2009), Orange Prize Longlist (2010), Indies Choice Book Award (Adult Debut, 2010), Townsend Prize for Fiction (2010), Exclusive Books Boeke Prize (2009), SIBA Book Award (Fiction, 2010), International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award Longlist (2011), Christian Science Monitor Best Book (Fiction, 2009), The Help's audiobook version is narrated by Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, Cassandra Campbell, Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain. In the 84th Academy Awards, Octavia Spencer won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this film. The film also received three other Academy Award nominations: Academy Award for Best Picture, Academy Award for Best Actress for Viola Davis, and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Jessica Chastain. You have to watch this movie because it is very important to see that in any work you have rights so we must not discrimate anybody.

Basically I explains the plot of the three movies, very general. A group of students are traveling around different places in Europe. And in the trip, they meet a stranger people, could be woman o man, and this stranger invited the students to differents places like partys, spa in alone place. Then when they arrived the place, they drink something with a drug. And all is beginning. The "bad " people kept in to a dark room, similar to a jail. The students or this guys have to wait their turn. In the other hand, exist the rich people that paid for all of this, because they like the blood and torture: So the game begining when they pay a lot of money for the guy that they want. The person chose for torture him/ her and finally the prisoner dies. In some cases, they put the guys in front of this people and they have to guess which arms is the next, if you guess you can chose as was use. And this happend which the rest of the people. Always is different because depends of the person that pay. If you don´t like the blood, I don´t recommended you. But I think is very interesting, and I enjoy a lot when I see.
Dallas Buyers Club is the movie I want to share and comment with you in this time. First, I just wanted to say that, in my opinion, this is an excellent film and I highly recommend you to watch it when you can. For the lovers of drama, it is a biographic drama movie, but it tastes different of other movies you may watch.
Talking just a little bit about the plot of the movie, to not make a lot of spoilers, Dallas Buyers Club is about a really masculine, promiscuous, clever; a little bit male chauvinist and junkie guy in the years of the 70’s that contracts HIV and suffers of AIDS disease. By this time, as you might imagine, he is judged to be a homosexual because of his disease by his friends and he is left alone, without a job or anybody to support him. When he accepts his condition, he starts looking to use a trial drug that could help him live a little bit longer but then he realizes that this kind of drugs may not be the solution of his problems; that the stereotypes that he has may not be the best way of treating people and that he could make a living by helping people with the same needs that he had.
Parallel to the story of Ron (the guy) and getting related to this story, we have the story of a female doctor that works at the hospital where the first time Ron was attended and the story of a transgender girl called Rayon, which became the business partner and friend of Ron.
What I loved about this movie is the quality of acting from the cast, the plot and the whole criticism and thinking that this movie leaves you. It gives food for thought. And it doesn’t even need a love story between to keep your eyes glued to the screen. The three main actors were veterans.
Dallas Buyers club touches topics like the business that the pharmaceutical companies have, playing with the lives of the people and how doctors get bought by these games just to get some benefits for them or their hospitals. Also, it talks about the power that this business has even in politics. This film critics about the mentality of the general population in this times to topics like homo or/and transsexuality and how ignorance can affect a lot the thinking of the people.
This film as of May 2014 grossed over $55 million in box office revenue against a budget of $5 million.
Click is an American comedy drama film that was released in 2006. This movie was directed by Frank Coraci, written by Steve Koren and Mark O’Keefe, and produced by Adam Sandler, who is also the veteran of this movie because he starred the main role. So, the principal actors / actresses that comprise the casting are Adam Sandler, Kate Beckinsale, Christopher Walken and David Hasselhoff. The film was dubbed in Spanish, in Spain and Mexico for Europe and Latin America. The film was distributed by Columbia Pictures. The box office of the film got a total gross of $237,681,299; which represents one of the greatest blockbusters Sandler’s movies, despite the negative critics. “Click” won the 33th People’s Choice Awards for favorite comedy movie and the 2007 Kid’s Choice Awards for favorite movie actor.
The story of the movie is developed about Michael Newman’s life, an architect who has been married with Donna during a longtime and they have two children. This proud father has a difficult schedule because his boss always pushed him to work harder in different projects and Newman needs to sacrifice family activities to finish the whole workload. One night, Michael felt really stressed in his house and he decided to go out in his car and search a new remote control at Beds Bath and Beyond, but he falls asleep in a bed of this store. When he wakes up, Michael goes to the “Beyond” section and meets a mysterious clerk called Morty, who gives him a universal control that cannot be returned again. After that “gift”, Michael’s life changes and he starts to have benefits for him and his family because he can go fast-forward on time using the magical control. The problem with that is that although he becomes the CEO of the company where he started to work as an architect, his life is ruined when he decide to change his family instead of his develop job projects. He gets divorces from Donna and another guy marries her; he loses attention from their kids; he turns to a fat guy; he doesn’t attend his father’s funeral; and after his son’s wedding party, he suffers a heart attack. Morty (the mysterious clerk) appear in the hospital’s emergency room and tells Michael that he took bad decisions when we use the universal control and that’s the reason why he’s suffered all those situations. Michael finally understands the mistake he made and runs to tell that message to his son Ben, just before he died in Ben’s hands. After that, a white flash appears and the audience notices that it was a dream because Michael wakes up in the bed of Beds and Beyond store. The reformed Michael returns home to show his affection for his family and tell them that he will never sacrifice his family for any project again. He organizes a party to celebrate and in the middle of the night, he finds the control again with a note written by Morty saying: “good guys need a break”. He does the right thing this time and throws the remote control in the trash to keep enjoying his life just the way it is.
The moral of this story is that we should enjoy our life right now, regardless we have problems and difficult situations; and that we shouldn’t change our family and friends for anything, even if it is a big project or a complex work because we just have one life and we need to enjoy it. If you like comedies with an interesting argument, I really recommend you to watch this movie, it is heart-warming and a total laugh riot!
The film that I chose was The Lorax a “fantasy” movie for children, but I think it´s more than that. The film was released on March 2, 2012 by Universal Studios and Illumination Entertainment. Now I know this film had been based in Dr. Seuss’ classic book. Even, the release coincided with the 108th birthday of Seuss, who died at 87 in 1991.
The cast of the film includes Danny DeVito as the Lorax, Zac Efron as Ted and Ed Helms as the Once-ler. The film includes several new characters, the most important is Taylor Swift as Audrey, Ted's romantic dream, because she’s his inspiration to make the difference in an artificial world.
The history begins when in the town of Thneedville, where everything is artificial, even the air, a boy named Ted hopes to win the heart of his dream girl, Audrey. When he learns of her wish to see a real tree, Ted seeks out the Once-ler, a ruined old businessman outside of town in a stark wasteland. Upon hearing of how the hermit gave into his greed for profits and devastated the land over the protests of the Lorax, Ted is inspired to undo the disaster. However, the greedy Mayor of Thneed-Ville, Aloysius O'Hare, has made his fortune exploiting the environmental collapse and is determined to stop the boy from undermining his business.
In my personal opinion it’s very curious how the big cinema studios promote movies without a message, that usually are science fiction or fantasy movies or just an empty drama, but in this case, The Lorax gives us the posibility to think about what are we doing with our planet. Daily, we see in the news the destruction in our forests and the contamination in our oceans and rivers, and what about the disproportionately increase of the industry, to supply stupid things, destroying all the environment. But this kind of films aren´t enough promoted because of the industry’s affected-interests. If we want to make a change in this world we can try to start seeing this movie with our family and friends and to make consciousness about the reality today.

Godzilla Hello fellow. I hope you are well. I want to comment about the movie I saw last week. His name is godzilla. Is the evolution of two types of monsters who have always lived with us without realizing it. In this context, one of them was born in a nuclear reaction, where he worked one of the stars of the movie and his wife. They had a son, who was at school when the accident occurred. Mr. survived, but his estanimo sad mood kept until the day of his death. However, your child grew and became prominent military and started a family.
Following the film, the monster who is from the nuclear plant began destriur the world. It was then Godzilla came as protector of humanity and killed him, making a valance again. In this way the world was saved from imminent destruction.
Now I will be writing about Hazards: How to avoid dangers in our work place.
As biotechnology engineers we can find in our everyday jobs at the laboratory many dangers. We can work with chemicals, fire, carcinogenic reagents, bacteria, fungi, insects, animal tissues that represent dangers for our help. To promote our safety the basic implements we should wear are gloves, lab clothes, long pants and closed shoes which should be used at every moment when we are at the laboratory.
Also, we need to have a good knowledge about what is established in the “Manual for Laboratory Good Practices” and keep track of it at every experiment we do. We must know the particular security rules and safety places of the laboratory where we are working. When we are working with volatile chemicals we should open them at the extraction gas camera.
Besides, we should be really careful when we are manipulating microorganisms or tissue culture, because we could get a disease because of a bad manipulation or we could contaminate the culture in which we are working at. The lab coat that we use in culture should always be clean and we preferably only use it at that laboratory. At last, we must ensure to not have any contact with all the carcinogenic or toxic reagents used mainly at the Molecular Biology lab. We have to always use gloves and a lab coat with long sleeves when we are manipulating these reagents; even sometimes we should use mask for our noses and mouths.
In our company, safety is one of the most important issues we deal every day. I think the most interesting program we have is "Drive to Zero" because it is a global initiative involving traffic accidents as one of the mean risks in our jobs (and even in our life).
According to the program, there are three aspects to consider for avoiding a car accident: 1. driver, 2. the road/weather conditions and 3. the vehicle itself.
Aspects such as bad mood or even a good mood can affect our way to drive because our mind is out on the moon and we must be concentrated on the road. In order to drive a car of the company, they give us a special license driver, to get it, we have to take a driving course, a special examination called "comment driving" (while we drive, we speak about we are doing to our inspector) and also an audit car is made. Since the car itself is so important to avoid a car accident we have to carry safety equipment, a record of car´s maintenance and also they review our lights, tires, etc. Since we cannot control the road/weather conditions, the driving course goal is prepared us to confront several situations and also remind us the laws.
Our policy is so clear and we can be fired if we have a car accident that can be avoided. Finally, one of our rules, while driving no use of cellular phone is not permitted, you must turn it off.
Movie: Blood Diamond Good afternoon, I want to comment about the movie Blood Diamond. The plot of the movie it is about diamonds mined in African war zones and how different conflicts use the sale of diamonds to finance the war; and how the diamond companies doesn’t matter this kind of conflicts and just want to have the diamonds. It exposes a lot of social conflicts, and how too many children are stolen and forced to join the different insurgents forces. The film is based on the Sierra Leone Civil War in 1996-2001. At the end of the movie, a survivor of the conflict tell the world what is the real traffic of diamonds, and how the war is destroying his country, and the Kimberley Process Certification wich seek to certify the origin of free conflict diamonds to sell to the different companies in the world. Was directed by Edward Zwick, and some of the actors are Leonardo Dicaprio and Jennifer Connely, Djimon Hounsou; and Dicaprio and Hounsou were nominated for the Academy Award for Best actor and Best supporting actor, respectively.
Well in my experience, I worked in a company where it was necessary to use the helmet, and that protects from blows to the head, you fall fruit and even oil. He had to wear closed shoes for protection specifically ITS slip as oil becomes soapy floor and you can fall, in the courtyard Rubber boots recommended to prevent falls and the foot with a fruit mash. In the laboratory, you should use lab clothes for personal protection, as well as safety glasses, masks and gloves. Use bed gas extraction when working with very strong and dangerous chemicals.
The experience I have gotten since I've been working in one of the CIBCM's labs is that the people who is working in the lab have shared responsibilities because we need to keep clean our workplace every time we use a table or a machine. For the manipulation of biologic material and every occasion we perform an experiment, it's necessary to use gloves, security glasses and lab coat. Moreover, it is prohibited to eat, smoke or drink something inside the lab; it's an obligation to sign in and record the time when you use a machine that uses electricity; it's forbidden to use odorous or highly acid/alkaline chemical substances if you don't know their content, and they should be used only inside a laminar flow cabinet; it's permitted to use inflammable substances like alcohol to clean your work-table, but those substances should be placed in dark-ventilated places and away from a flame. The glass materials to pour or transfer liquid substances should be carefully washed and sterilized once we stop using them, and the bed gas extractor should be used when use substances that release toxic gases to the environment and they could be irritating and corrosive for the respiratory tract.
Those are some examples used in my workplace to avoid accidents for me and the rest of personnel working in the lab.
How to avoid accidents in my workplace: I am working in one of CIET’s laboratories and we have to keep clean all our workplace because we work with many bacteria and these bacteria are very dangerous for our health. So, we have some basic implements such as gloves, lab’s coat, special shoes that we have to wear every time when we need to work at the lab. We cannot eat, smoke or drink inside the lab and we have to get a special ID when you want to get into the lab because the director wants to know who is working at the moment. Sometimes, we have to work with bacteria like brucella abortus, which so dangerous because it can produce abortus in the women so, we have to follow all security rules for each laboratories and we must study all manual’s lab that the director give us. There are some examples to avoid accidents in our laboratory and we have to follow all rules to finally have a good life.
Currently I'm not working. But when I worked at the Centre for Research in Biotechnology, you had to have some care to prevent accidents eg:
1. Eliminate all waste in the correct container. 2. Wear gloves, goggles and other equipment to prevent health hazards. 3. Label all containers and materials you use. 4. Wash all equipment and materials you use. 5. Dressing appropriate clothing. 6. Clear the work area before and after use. 7. Ensure shut off the gas after work.

Hello teacher and classmates. Avoid accidents is a really important topic for the company where I am working because a safety place to work is very important to guarantee the success of our business. This is the reason why we work on the implementation and communication of work practices without risk to the health of the people. We have been working in training programs so the people is prepare to react in case of accidents and also is possible identify the risk at every work place to avoid surprises and try to prevent serious effects on peoples life. Promote the safety making conscience and looking for the support of all the tea are very important bases in any work.

I really want to learn more about gene expression from you all, and if it is possible, I hope a I can contribute whit you too.
Best regards,
Karol.
Hello Karol.
EliminarNice to meet you! Like you, I also work in the TEC. However our research are very different. To be honest, I do not like medicinal plants, but molecular biology is very interesting, I work in this field in the area of virology, and would like to talk more with you of this fascinating world.
It seems unbelievable, but you never stop learning if you work in molecular biology. So it's interesting to exchange information and learn more about your abilities in this field.
Best Regards, Luis Alvarado.

Biomolecular Research Center Director,
Dear Dr.
Thank your for your consideration.
Best regards,
Ana R.
Dear Ana,
EliminarThank you for contacting me.
The University has scholarship programs for short internships, so you would like contact our Department of International Cooperation in order to have a financial aids from us.
I hope to hear from you soon to coordinate the date of your arriving and length of your visit.
Best regards
Dr. John

Answer of the Letter of Adriana Saborío:
Dear Adriana:
We are really glad to hear about you and that you joined us in this group. Ana Kennedy has been talking about your delightful personality and your interests, so we told her to invite you.
Last year, I also worked at neuroscience in a laboratory of Molecular Metabolism in the UACh and I am too a lover of photography. Actually, I took a class of basic photography for digital cameras and I am anxious to learn more about everything from this topic.
I am more interested in learning photography as a hobby more that as an instrument for our research, but I also think that this knowledge could help us in keeping track of our data and results. I like to take photos of bacteria, fungi and cells, but also like to take pictures of people in their regular environment and of nature.
So I think we have lot to talk about and that we could have a nice discussion about different topics. We hope the others could join us soon.
Greetings,
Naizmi Valverde.

ResponderEliminarGood night professor and classmates, this is the Abroad Experience HW. It was written by Viviana Carranza, Esteve Mesén and Andrea Ramírez.
ResponderEliminarBest regards.
ResponderEliminarThe first weekend that I was there, Ann and his husband Jerry, invited me to dinner outside.
Good morning teacher and classmates.
ResponderEliminarSix years ago I went abroad for the first time; I went to L.A in the States.
Best regards,
Carolina Castro and Naizmi Valverde.

ResponderEliminarMy last intercultural experience, was in january 2014; I went to Orlando, Florida in USA.
ResponderEliminarI visited 5 Disney parks: Magic kingdom, Sea world, Universal studios, Adventure Island and Busch gardens.

Applications of Biotecnology
ResponderEliminarHi Teacher and everybody.

EliminarShort video, Application of Biotechnology
ResponderEliminarThe video explains some applications of the biotech to improve our life.
Good evening classmates and teacher,
ResponderEliminarAccording to the video and my opinion, the most difficult situation about biotechnology is to make a convincing definition about it.

The Help
ResponderEliminarThe movie "the help" it is an excellent movie because you can see a lot of things that have happened in our society about the human rights.
New York Times bestseller (Fiction, 2009, 2011), Amazon's Best Books of the Year (#19, 2009), Orange Prize Longlist (2010), Indies Choice Book Award (Adult Debut, 2010), Townsend Prize for Fiction (2010), Exclusive Books Boeke Prize (2009), SIBA Book Award (Fiction, 2010), International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award Longlist (2011), Christian Science Monitor Best Book (Fiction, 2009),
The Help's audiobook version is narrated by Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, Cassandra Campbell, Viola Davis and Jessica Chastain.

Hi everybody!
ResponderEliminarDallas Buyers Club is the movie I want to share and comment with you in this time.
Click (2006)
ResponderEliminarClick is an American comedy drama film that was released in 2006.

ResponderEliminarHi!
ResponderEliminarThe film that I chose was The Lorax a “fantasy” movie for children, but I think it´s more than that.

Godzilla
ResponderEliminarHello fellow.

Hi guys!
ResponderEliminarNow I will be writing about Hazards: How to avoid dangers in our work place.
Avoiding a car accident
ResponderEliminarIn our company, safety is one of the most important issues we deal every day.
Be safe
Marta
Movie: Blood Diamond
ResponderEliminarGood afternoon, I want to comment about the movie Blood Diamond.
How to avoid accidents in your work
ResponderEliminarWell in my experience, I worked in a company where it was necessary to use the helmet, and that protects from blows to the head, you fall fruit and even oil.
How to avoid accidents in your workplace:
ResponderEliminarThe experience I have gotten since I've been working in one of the CIBCM's labs is that the people who is working in the lab have shared responsibilities because we need to keep clean our workplace every time we use a table or a machine.
How to avoid accidents in my workplace:
ResponderEliminarI am working in one of CIET’s laboratories and we have to keep clean all our workplace because we work with many bacteria and these bacteria are very dangerous for our health.

Hello teacher and classmates.
ResponderEliminarAvoid accidents is a really important topic for the company where I am working because a safety place to work is very important to guarantee the success of our business.
