  1. In Mexico, a tourist can be in the country with the status of "visitor" for six months, in Costa Rica only for three months. Also, in Mexico there are a specific category for exchange students and researchers, here in Costa Rica they are classified as temporary residents. There are many other differences like these. The emigration is similar, because most of the people who leave the country (Mexico or Costa Rica) is because they are looking for more job or study opportunities.

    1. It is interesting, according to the research I made, many people left Cuba for exactly the same reasons: looking for more job or study opportunities. Maybe it is a similarity that many countries in Latin America share! It is incredible also that you can stay as a “visitor” in Mexico twice as much as a “visitor” in Costa Rica.

    2. Unfortunately this is a reality in most countries of Latin America, where people must leave their countries with the aim of finding more opportunities in those areas. If we compare the immigration laws in Costa Rica with Norway, the first difference is that requirements in Costa Rica are huge, while in Norway all you need to apply is fill in a little form with their personal data.

    3. Well.. The situation related to Colombia is similar, you can stay in the country as a tourist for six months (180 days) IF your country does not need the tourist visa, instead you will stay the time also allowed here in Costa Rica, 90 days.

  2. I will talk about the residencies of two countries: Cuba and Costa Rica. The mayor difference is that residencies in Cuba are stricter than residencies in Costa Rica. In Cuba the only way to get permanent residency is by getting married to a Cuban, or to have children that are born in Cuba. Meanwhile in Costa Rica, you have the possibility to naturalize and obtain the permanent residency. One similarity is that both countries offer temporal residencies for students.

  3. If you are looking for better opportunities to work, study or if you just want to take a vacations, Norway is a perfect option to do it. The main difference with immigration laws of Costa Rica is that paperwork is less :). Norway allows you apply for a permanent residency if you have completed 250 hours of tuition in Norwegian and 50 hours of social studies but if you want to get a permanent residency to work or study you must have found a job or an university first respectively and complete the same requirements for a normal residency.

    2. It's interesting, according to the Mexico's Immigration Rules, exchange students have their own category and they don't need to apply for a permanent residence to study in that country, so Norway and Mexico have different ways to say "welcome" to students!

  4. Traveling to Colombia as a tourist: Like traveling to our country as tourists, foreigners must meet certain conditions depending on their place of origin.
Tourists from countries such as China, Haiti and Nicaragua, must provide their tourist visa because otherwise can not enter the Colombian territory. They can stay a maximum of 90 calendar days, but may request a further extension of 90 days, which does not happen in Costa Rica for similar groups. Visitors from other countries who do not require such a visa can shelter up to 180 calendar days.

Residence: The Resident Visa (RE) is granted to foreigners who wish to enter Colombia to remain in the territory for an indefinite period of time. It may be requested if a specific condition is met, for example:
If you are a parent of a person of Colombian nationality.
If both parents of a person of Colombian nationality are foreigners.
If he/she is a foreigner who resigned last Colombian nationality on grounds of birth or adoption.

Despite certain differences in tourism and residence, Costa Rica and Colombia are located in a similar categorization.

  5. Since Romania joined the European Union in 2007, it has been attractive to expatriates and retirees who look for the more beautiful place to relocate because is a beautiful country in Eastern Europe, with one of the largest areas of virgin forest , similar to Costa Rica. Besides there are too much requirements simultaneously a large process for get a citizenship indeed curiously when the applicant has invested in Romania amounts to more than 1 million euros the requirements for get a citizenship are reduced in large proportion.

So guys if you would like to start a business, Romania can be a considerable option! XD

    1. It's interesting that Romania uses the nationality as a strategy to attract new business and new investors to the country. Take in consideration that having a second nationality is a big advantage when problems, such as war or political issues, arise in the country you live. So, I think that decision of reducing the process to get a residency to the investors can represent a smart move from Romania.

      Point to Romania! :)

    3. There are some options, like this one that we have to consider!! It is good to go to other country for business, but if the country is as well as you are describing, it is an extra motivation. In Costa Rica people also get motivated because our nature, and we have to take the advantage of it.

  6. Honduras is a country not far away from Costa Rica. Although the existence of differences between both countries, the nearness makes their cultures and laws similar. For instance, the requirement of a visa to visit Honduras depends on your nationality. Honduras has a list of 112 countries which need a visa to enter the country; most of them are African and Asian nations.

Also, the process to get a residency are similar to the one Costa Rica has. It requires the delivery of a lot of legal documents to the Honduran consul regardless of why the residence is requested.

  7. Migration on oil rich countries is very intense. Arabic countries have a lot of oil to be extracted, people immigrate to this countries especially in business matters. This is the case of countries like Qatar and Kuwait where immigrants represent more than 70% of the total population.

Their goberment thought that the inmigration ratios was good, but not they are taking actions because is too high. Inmigrants represent more than the 95% of the workers.
    They already lost their countries!

  8. Japan and UK are both countries with strong policies for immigrants. Now days both rolled out a new system to rate immigrants. Immigrants earn points based on their academic background and research or business experience, among other factors. In contrast from UK, Japan's foreign population is low with only 2% from the whole country population. So this new system that give preferential treatment to immigrants with higher scores in their system could bring more benefits to Japan that to the UK because it could increase Japan's foreign population and help with their economy.

    1. I believe this new system will help to bring just people that are actually going to be contributing to the country, also it will increase significantly the amount of immigrants in Japan by allowing them to apply more easily to move there.

  9. In Saudi Arabia in April 2013 around 9 million workers were foreign people, this country has around 25 million of population. This site is a part of Southeast Asia, after they discovered the petroleum, the country grew too fast. The foreign people worked in agriculture, cleaning and domestic service industries. All visitors to Saudi Arabia have a sponsor, the workers have their sponsor’s permission to enter or leave the country. This is a disadvantage because they are like a slave.

  10. If we compare Norway immigrant situation is really similar to Sweden’s, both having an immigrant rate of their population in between 13% and 15% of their total population, as well the majority of the this population comes mainly from eastern Europe and Africa. One of the significant reasons of these movements is the great condition that both of them offer, in terms of health care, education and economical stability for everyone and the other reason is the high rate of asylum to immigrants provide since the world war II.

  11. If we talk about climate conditions between countries, we can appreciate that Spain has a temperate climate and Australia has a combination between tropical and semi-arid. Australia has a life expectancy of 81-82 years per person that is very similar to the Spain levels. Both countries abolished the death penalty, both countries are very hospitable with the outer people. The unemployment rate in Australia is 4.63% less (5.7%) than Spain (26.3%), this a positive point to Australia if you want to work here. Finally the extension area of Spain is 65.3% (505,370 km sq) bigger than Australia (7,741,220 km sq).

The majority of immigrants of Australia came from the British Isles, have English (36.1%), Irish (10.4%) and Scottish (8.9%). this diferent with Spain where the immigrants came from Ibero-Americans countries with the majority percent then European Union and North Africa mainly.

  13. The residency in India can be difficult for foreigners to obtain. In this country the non-national must have a visa.
This visa can be as tourist (six months up to ten years), as employment (until five years), as student, as transit and others. While in Costa Rica the larger visa is three months. If we need pass more time into the country we must get another visa or get residency.

  14. In Spain exists a law that controls the inmigration, named Organic Law. This law talk about a lot of things that a inmigrant can do to get the recidency. This law make it easy in a lot of points. For example: A student or a peson who go to Spain looking for a job don't have to run and get a recindency persion, their VISA works for this things.
Comparing Spain with Costa Rica I think in Costa Rica is hard to get a VISA than in Spain because in Costa Rica you have to delivery a lot of documents.

  16. United States report over 11.3 million approx. of illegal immigrants by the year 2015. This data shows us that people of other country are interested in going to this country, even if going there is a risk for their lives. What are those facts that make United States attractive? Why people don't look for the legal way? Costa Rica is also very attractive for other people, do you think that this is an advantage or a disadvantage for the country?

    1. "Living the American Dream".
I think immigrants have colaborate in both ways, in benefit and in disadvantage. Immigrants do harsh work mostly, beside, it have enriched a lot the culture with new ideas, new views and new experiences. Research shows an economic consensus that, taken as a whole, immigrants raise living standards for American workers by boosting demand and increasing productivity, contributing to innovation, and lowering prices.

  18. France has been receiving immigrants since 19th century and after the second war the immigration increased significantly. During the 70’s it faced economic crisis and allowed immigrants (mostly from the Muslim World) to permanently settle in France with their families and to acquire French citizenship. It resulted in hundreds of thousands of Muslims, especially to the larger cities, living in subsidized public housing and suffering from very high unemployment rates. Currently France occupies the second position, after Germany in the top of Europe Union where people used immigrate.
