National Branding


Watch this video and be ready to discuss in class the following questions:

Define the term national Brand.

What is it associated with.  Use positive verbs mentioned in the video and explain what does each verb implies?

How does a country brand influence on increasing or strengthen of the country’s economy?

 Now watch these two videos of branding in Peru and Costa Rica to be able to apply the concept of branding from the former video and the implications of the terms used for each country. Explain how each is term is examplefied.

    1) The National Brand have the objective of increase the reputation of the countries, is related to the place branding. Promote the simbolic value of products. The branding and image of a nation and the successful transference of this image to its exports is just as important as what they actually produce and sell.
    2) This video starts with a explanation of two persons that how is a day in Costa Rica for they, for example they said that get up, then they go to ta beach with its dogs and there they have a breakfast, also they go shooping. He mentioned the good weather of Costa Rica and she said that Costa Rica is amazing, they feel that they are in home.
    3) Each country have beautiful places, so if the country promotes this places for the world the economy can increase for the effect of the tourism. But if the country don’t promote its beautiful land the stranger income can be lose and finally affect the general economy of a country.
    First Video
    The first video mentioned some important aspects for example: he said the labor of increase the economy of a country is a work of the leaders of the nations. The country Brand implies perception, reputation and the association across of multiple cultures for attract, retain, develop and grow its economy.
    Second Video
    The second shows how even in the future the places of a country (in this case Peru )can attract people of all the world. This type of videos are use for the promoters and show the cities more beautiful, for example beaches, colonial cities, mountains, park, etc. In conclution the people are interest in visite Peru.

  2. For me, we can define national branding as the way that people perceive any country, in other words is the reputation of a country.
    For example, in the video, if you ask to these persons what do they think about Costa Rica, they will say just positive comments, which means that our national branding is seem in a positive way.
    They used some verbs, for example they said that they can socialize with other people, they came for reasons as freedom, opportunity and well style. Also someone mentioned that they could make friends. Something funny for me, was the couple that said that they never used the return ticket.
    I think that national branding can increase the country’s economy if it is positive, because for example if people think that Costa Rica is a good place, more people are going to visit and stay. It means more money entering to the country, and it is not just the money that foreign bring, it are new employments, and a better life style in general for the country.
    The second video shows national branding as a way to improve economy, because it talks about the developing and growing of the economy. Also, the video mentioned how depending of the perception of the country, it can gets a good position in the market, so that the national branding can be a powerful key for a country. In the last video, the term is exemplified showing how good Peru is, and that you can have a great time there. It is a place that you can visit to enjoy, to learn and to have new experiences. In simple words, Peru is showed as a place different from the place in which the man is living.

  3. 1) The National Brand is a very important strategy because is used by companies to show the national beauty, and they can promote the economy and tourism with it. This is an amazing tool, because the country creates and shows its image to all the world. It also envelops the culture of one country.
    The National Brand shows different choices to consumers, for example products and services of one country. This also is a mean of information because the consumers can see many things of one place. This is a key to the country, because it can improve the national economy.
    The national brand can be associated with goods and services, natural resources, biodiversity in the ecology, values, culture, traditions, the enterprise market, tourist attractions and others. This brand includes all the things that identify a country.
    2) In the video, the people say many verbs, some of them are:
    *Go to beach: The Costa Rican beaches are beautiful and they promote the tourism. In the video we can see that many tourists like go to our beaches.
    *Go to stores: Costa Rica has many stores with a variety of products and services.
    *Improve the health: Costa Rica offers different places to exercise.
    *Get a coffee and breakfast: Costa Rican food promotes the culinary tourism. Many of our foods are delicious.
    3) The national brand can increase the country’s economy, because it promotes products and services of one country. The tourism can improve with this. For example through it, the countries can show and promote the natural wealth, wonderful places, and different kind of products and services. Also when many managers see the national brand, they want to invest in one country.
    4) In the second video, he explains the benefits of national brand and how the economy can improve with this. Also he says, that the national brand identifies one country and its goods can be seen.
    The last video is about Peru. The national brand of this country shows many places, means of transportations, foods and some aspects of their culture. The images show the beauty of this wonderful place, and they can increase the tourism and the economy. Many people can go to Peru and enjoy with their family and friends the beauty that Peru offers.

  5. 1. In my opinion through national brand each country can promote their nationals attractions around the world. It is a way to invite people from the others countries to visit and enjoy in Costa Rica for example, national brand is a manner to "sell" all things that the country have.

    2.People can get up, drink coffee and relax enjoying the calm of the beach.
    Also people describes Costa Rica as a country where they found freedom and opportunities. Other verb is love, the love they people feels for our country.

    3.Country brand is very important in economy because if the country do not promote it , they dont receive tourist, all little and big companies will have to close their doors or finish business relations with other people. Then the unemployed will be increasing quickly.

    4. The second video shows the implications of national brand. Also explains why countries must improve it and how it impact the economy of each country.

    5.The third video shows the attractions of Peru, this is an example of national brand and how the countries use technology to promote people visit their country. In fact we can see different places as beaches, mountains and rivers, this have an impact in people because they want to travel to be part of this culture and indirectly increase the economy of the country and the value of their national brand.

  6. 1) It´s a sign or mark own of a country. The brand is used to differentiate products or services of the country, besides represents the reputation and gives positioning front others countries.
    2) The video shows two persons that talk of Costa Rica and explain how they live there. The comments are very good, so the Brand of Costa Rica has a positive effect. In the video, I listened some verbs as:
    - Go to beach: They get distraction
    - Go to store: They can pass time buying cute articles
    - Obtain vacations: Get relax
    -Improve the healthy: Exist different activities in Costa Rica to be a full person
    -Capture great images: The landscapes in Costa Rica are beautiful.
    3)The economy can to improve by many reasons for example: the country strengthens relationships with others countries to have better exports. Besides if the brand offers a good quality many tourists will arrive to country.
    4)The second video talks about of some concepts that illustrate the impact of the brand in the economy. Talk about the influence in the market, the economic growth and opportunities.
    The last video shows the National Brand of Peru. In the video you can perceive Peru as a pleasant place with beautiful mountains, monuments, beaches, costums... Thus is presented Peru.

  7. 1. For me national Brand is the way like the Company promotes the product or the services what they offer. In this case they are promoting the country, thanks to this videos people of others countries can see what Costa Rica offer.
    2. In the video we can hear some reason for what the like Costa Rica. The first couple say they can relax, have a breakfast in the beach and play with their dogs and this is the reason why the like this country. The man mentioned three words “freedom, opportunity and wild style” for he this are the principals characteristics of Costa Rica, you can find a lot of activities to do and enjoy with friends.
    3. If people from others countries can see the places of a country they can be interesting to come and visit this places. This type of videos help to increase the tourism thanks that the economy of the country improvement.
    4. The second video
    In this video mentioned the country brand is the influents to attract, develop and grow the economy and the relation between country brand, the economic status of the country and the culture development. If a country has a strong country brand this can has competitive advantages over others countries.
    5. The third video
    We see the good moments we can have if we go to a country in this case is Peru. This shows some places you can visit, and the good time you will have if you travel to this places.

    2) The video is about the perspective that other people have upon the country as well as what they do, and your daily activities.
    Within the description of daily activities, they say they get up, have a coffee, go to the beach with their dogs, and you can go shopping, they say that they love the country
    3) The benefits are that increasingly attracts more tourists, and this is one of the strengths of our country

    4) In the second video talks about the benefits that national brands as the economy improves, it can get to know different cultures, her relationships are better, handles influences and improves opportunities.
    In the last video, is shown the future exactly 2032 in Peru, shows that the present is that one good place where you can enjoy and have a good time , in the future there is a lot of technology, but in the present there is a beautiful nature.

    2) They describe your marvelous days, for example, she says that probably the best part of the day is in the morning, because they get up, drink coffee, they go to the beach and they do other activities. They think that “this is amazing”.

    3) The country brand shows to the world your amazing places and activities. This is an strategic way to attract people around the world. For example, the tourism is a tactic to increase the economy, so if more people know about the country, more people will come. When they share the videos about each country people can see the most attractive, so they will like to go to these place.

    4) In the video when the man talks about the country brand, we can see that he explain some benefits. For example, the brand creates a perception about the country, attracts people and develops economy. The country brand is wonderful.

  10. 1) The national brand is the quality seal of a country and this is used to promote the goods and services that the country offers to global market.

    3)The national brand can to produce a big impact in the country's economy, because if the foreigners have a good concept of the quality that the products that a country offers; they going to buy this products or they can to travel to this country to know the attractions that it has; it produces a increase in the sells and exports, and an improve in the life of the local persons.

    4) Costa Rica's national brand promotes the natural resources that the country has, this showing all the attractions that the tourists can find; like the beaches and mountains, also promotes the culture of the local people, the food, and the happinesss that the visitors can find in Costa Rica.

    Peru's national brand promotes to the global market its historical places like Machupicchu Mountain, it culture, its traditions, and the natural enviroment that Peru has. Also Peru tries to show to the world that is a country that looks for the modernization but maintaining the essence of an history, where the traditions can produce in the persons that are travelling both the past.

  11. 1) The national brand is how people perceive the culture, lifestyle, and other different things in some country in the world.
    2) Improve lifestyle: they think Costa Rica is great country, and help them to improve their lifestyle.
    Socialize: In the video, they said that in Costa Rica, they can to socialize with Costa Rican people, and they can to do many different activities.
    Relax: Also, if they want, they can go to the beach and relax with their dogs for enjoy the different beautiful places.
    3) Well, a country brand influences on increasing of the country`s economic, for example the Americans come to Guanacaste, they makes a reservation in a hotel, so this hotel gives employment to Guanacaste`s people, and they buy souvenirs in the market place. Also this concept help to attract and develop international investment; for example, new enterprises, factories, etc.
    4) The last videos talk about benefits with the national brand and how the economic activity can improve with this. Also, in the videos we can see beautiful places of the countries (rivers, mountains, beach), so this motivates tourists to visit these countries.

  12. For me, the term brand national is very important because is the essence of our country, by nature, good people, and traditions, is the image we give to the world. This is a strategy to developing the economy.
    Some verbs positive mentioned in the video are:
    Make friends: Means that people in Costa Rica is very friendly and make you feeling like in home.
    Walk in the beach: You can walk in the beach and see a lot of vegetation and animals like birds and monkeys.
    Brand is a national strategy is to make known a Costa Rica's beautiful places, culture, the friendliness of its people, with the purpose to motivate tourists to visit our country, producing the increase the economy because it brings benefits such: hotels, to transportation, tour guides, and restaurants.

    The first video mentions that now for the leaders of a nation is very important to have a strong country brand because this helps attract and maintain tourists also allows the development and growth of their culture and economy.
    In the second video, the country of Peru shows a good example of development of country brand, because it shows their best places, the essence of the people, food, and traditional games. It is one of best ways to attract tourists.

  13. 1) I think that the national brand is a definition of how is characterized a country by their traditions, cultures, geography and meals, activities sports, popular vocabulary, Something that was very attractive for others countries and we recognize anywhere.

In my opinion, the National Branding can be defined as a type of strategy used to attract tourists to the country, in other words tell me what is Costa Rica, What distinguishes Costa Rica? and why I can go to Costa Rica, what are the benefits?. Sell ​​the general public reputation and perception of the country.
    The video shows ¿how is to live one day in Costa Rica?, starting with a good breakfast, nice view, where you can socialize with people, beautiful beaches, beautiful flora and wildlife, from whales and dolphins until you can surf with your dog.
